Adventures are more fun with friends. Head out for a snowshoe adventure on the trails of Waskasoo Park before coming back to Basecamp + Cafe to share some food and drinks.

Choose from a brunch adventure, catching the afternoon sun on the trail or heading out under the star for an evening adventure. Either way, your guide will take you along the Red Deer River valley to explore the city's parks and trails.

Snowshoes, headlamps for evening tours, a professional guide and your choice of brunch, a chocolate fondue or local charcuterie board along with a complimentary glass of wine or local craft beer for each guest are all included.

The Snowshoe Adventure

There's something different when you head out for a winter walk with snowshoes. You get to slow down to enjoy the forest in a different way. Exploring the local park becomes an adventure and a fun way to spend a couple of hours with friends.

Your welcome to use our snowshoes or to bring yours for this adventure.

Basecamp + Cafe

Share stories of your adventure back at basecamp as you enjoy food and a beverage. This tour is offered with the option of brunch, chocolate fondue or a local charcuterie board.

The Details

When and where does the tour start?

Meet your guide at Pursuit Adventures' Basecamp + Cafe

  • The brunch tour starts at 8:30 am, the afternoon tour starts at 1 pm and the evening tour starts at 6 pm.
  • You will meet your guide at Pursuit Adventures' Basecamp + Cafe (get directions).

Return time varies based on the group and to allow enough time to enjoy the food at the cafe after the snowshoeing. The tour typically wraps up by:

  • Brunch tour: 12 pm
  • Afternoon tour: 5 pm
  • Evening tour: 10 pm

What do I need to bring?

Be prepared for the winter weather. Conditions can change quickly and our winter tours run in anything from - 30C to +10C.

Required Items

  • Winter boots
  • Appropriate clothing for the weather including long underwear
  • A winter jacket and snow pants
  • An extra sweater
  • Tuque and gloves

Recommended Items

  • Sunglasses
  • Camera

We have a limited number of winter boots and snow pants available at no charge. Please let us know your size if you will need boots or pants.

What's Included?

  • We provide snowshoes at no charge for this tour.
  • A professional guide.
  • Food and beverages after the snowshoe tour.
  • Guides carry emergency equipment, including first aid kits and cell phone or satellite communicators on all tours.

We have a limited number of winter boots and snow pants available at no charge.

What's Not Included

  • Appropriate clothes and footwear for the weather conditions.
  • Water bottles, cameras, and a backpack.

 

What kind of food and beverages are included?

We have three options for your group: brunch, a chocolate fondue or local charcuterie. All options include a complimentary beverage (wine or local craft beer) of the guest's choice.

Please make sure to mention any dietary requirements when you book your adventure and we will try to accommodate whenever possible.

What kind of transportation is provided?

Depending on the conditions the snowshoeing portion of the tour may be offered along the Red Deer River or in one of Red Deer's parks, most often Heritage Ranch. Transportation will be from Basecamp + Cafe to the snowshoe location in either a passenger van or bus.

What's the group size?

This is a private tour available for groups of 4 to 12 guests. Contact us if you are planning for a group of 13 or more guests.

This day trip is open to all ability levels, whether you are a beginner and or an expert. You must be comfortable walking 2+ km in a variety of conditions. This tour is recommended for adults but is available for all ages.

What are the terms and conditions?

Advance Booking

This tour requires bookings to be made at least 2 days prior to departure. Please contact us at (403) 986-6190 for a last minute booking.

Cancellation Policy

All bookings are non-refundable but we will offer you a credit for a future adventure if you cancel a minimum of 72 hours prior to departure.

A Few More Things To Know

We get to play outside on our tours and that means you’ll want to come prepared for the weather. Make sure to dress in layers and come prepared for the unpredictable weather we often get in Alberta. We rarely cancel tours due to weather, as long as we can have a safe adventure. You’ll be amazed at how warm we get snowshoeing at -20C or how much fun hiking in the rain can be!
