If you’re wondering about what to do in Red Deer and what the local Waskasoo Park system has to offer then the new exhibits at the Kerry Wood Nature Centre are definitely the place to start. The new interactive exhibits cover the natural history of the area, provide great learning opportunity on the local environment and highlight the trail system.

The exhibit is a playful experience, with a series of interactive activities inspired by Kerry Wood and his books with lighting that changes throughout your visit to mimic the changing seasons. Our kids might be partial (they’ve both attended the nature preschool at the centre) but they loved the change.

Natural History and Local Environment

The kids loved all the nooks and crannies, filled with information on the local environment and making them feel as if they’re discovering exciting new things as they go along.

Waskasoo Parks

The new space also gives a great introduction of the park system, complete with a virtual bike tour. Just jump on the bike and start pedaling! Curious about other adventures in the city parks? Check out the displays on local activities or ask one of the volunteer or staff for their recommendation.

Planning Your Visit

The nature centre offers year round programs for all ages, one of the best playground in the city and a great starting point for a hike in the park or a bike ride along the city paths. Make sure to check-out our guide to the area to find out more.
