The Experience

The Service Road

The first section of trail takes us from the Beaverdam PRA up the service road to an abandonned campground. The campground was built to use as an overflow but as now become a storage area for the Alberta Parks campgrounds in the area.

The Cutblock

At the end of the service road we can see the ridge above, our destination. The area around the campground was logged, opening up the views of the ridge and surrounding area.

The Forest

The trail makes its way into the forest and slowly begins to climb. This trail is relatively easy except for one steeper hill.

The Ridge

After a steeper climb the forest opens up and the views of the mountains to the west and the forested foothills to the east make the effort worthwhile.

At this point we leave the better established Get'Er Done Trail we've been following and make our way along the ridge.

The Ridge

Our lunch spot destination is on the open ridge overlooking the Nordegg area with views all the way to Abraham Lake.

The return follows the same trail we used to make our way up.

A Few More Things To Know

We get to play outside on our tours and that means you’ll want to come prepared for the weather. Make sure to dress in layers and come prepared for the unpredictable weather we often get in Alberta. We rarely cancel tours due to weather, as long as we can have a safe adventure. You’ll be amazed at how warm we get snowshoeing at -20C or how much fun hiking in the rain can be!
