    Getting Here

    Internationally

We recommend flying to the Calgary International Airport.

Transportation from the Calgary International Airport to Nordegg is available as part of some of our multi-day adventures. If you are travelling on your own we recommend renting a car since public transportation is not available in the Nordegg & Abraham Lake region.

    From Calgary

The most scenic option is to plan your visit as a loop, taking Highway 22 through Sundre and Rocky Mountain House before taking Highway 11 to Nordegg. On the way back to Calgary, follow Highway 11 to Saskatchewan Crossing before heading south on Highway 93 to Lake Louise and then Highway 1 back to Calgary.

The drive from Calgary to Nordegg through Sundre is approximately 3 hours (285 km). The return through Lake Louise is approximately 4 hours (350 km). Abraham Lake is at the halfway point when doing the loop.

    From Edmonton

The easiest option is to take highway 2 to Lacombe and then head west on highway 12 to Rocky Mountain House. Once in Rocky Mountain House, follow highway 11 to Nordegg and Abraham Lake. Retrace your steps for the return journey. The drive from Edmonton to Nordegg is approximately 3 hours (300 km).

    Explore Nordegg & Abraham Lake

Adventures off the beaten path take a little more effort, but the rewards are well worth it: stunning canyons, incredible peaks, glaciers, amazing rivers and the ice bubbles of Abraham Lake.

We know that finding information about our region can be a bit of a challenge. We’ve worked with some great local partners to put together our guide to the region: explorenordegg.ca. You’ll find itinerary ideas, trail guides and you can book your adventures with us and our local activity providers.

While you’re in town you can also stop by the Canteen to book in-person, pick up maps and find out more about local trails.
